Pearl

This is a more experimental and surreal piece. The main theme of this piece is birth. I’m intrigued by the shape of oysters and how they make pearls, I connect them to a mother‘s womb. Recently, my grandmother passed away, and my cousin gave birth to her first daughter, these two events happened around the same time. Makes me think a lot about death and birth, how life comes and goes in a circular way, the change of energy and forms in life.

In the past year, I’ve been having a lot of weird and bizarre dreams. And I‘ve encountered a few books about dreams and subconscious, makes me want to explore that part of me. I’ve been thinking a lot about what kind of message I want to deliver through my art, perhaps I want to be more daring and experimental from now on. I don‘t know where this will take me but it feels good to create something different and exploring other sides of me.
